Mechanical components
In the case of mechanical components, the rule applies that various regulations and standards have to be fulfilled according to the area of application.   Appropriate to this, we develop various belt latch mechanisms, safety-belt retractors, safety-belt adjustment mechanisms or fittings.
The basis for a multitude of application possibilities in motor sport, aviation, special equipment/extras and military vehicles is provided by automatic devices with ALR and ELR functions (or also manually lockable), various safety-belt adjustment mechanisms for belt strap with the least micro-slip, lightweight fittings with a high level of strength, hinged lift-up lid locks, push button locks and turn locks.

Pyrotechnics and sensor technology
Electronics are also already well established in belt latch mechanisms. Information acquired from seating positions and belt latch mechanisms is registered by sensors and subsequently converted to a field bus signal via a microcontroller. This technology enables information from several hundred seats, for example in passenger planes, to be registered and analysed with only a low level of wiring requirements.

Furthermore, it is possible for primary decisions to be reached, which can trigger the activation of airbags for each individual seating position. These decisions are substantiated with the aid of crash sensors and appropriate algorithms. Components based on such technology, pyrotechnic safety-belt pretensioners for instance, have considerably contributed to decrease the risk of injury during accidents.

Textile components
Among the textile components, which we deal with in our research and development projects, are belt straps, fabrics and woven textiles. The belt straps that are employed have widths from 20 mm to 75 mm, according to their respective field of application. Decisive for the strength and behaviour under stress are also the weave and structure as well as the selected seam pattern. Depending on the type of belt strap, up to 160 colour variations are provided to suit individual tastes.

Fabrics are used for example for seat upholstery and seat surfaces, but also new types of materials such as three-dimensional fabrics are the subject matter of our work.

Restraint systems
One of our core competencies is the development of complete restraint systems. Not only have we occupied ourselves with the fundamentals during the last 50 years, but we have also managed to develop new, innovative products in cooperative dialogue with our customers. Our harness belts with the patented asm® safety system, for example, helps to take the crash hurdles in sporty, extra-small series vehicles. HANS® specific belt systems, developed in close collaboration with racing car drivers and motor sport organisations, are widely-used in professional racing. The patented HYBRID belt system (see picture) is a further example of an unorthodox innovation from the house of SCHROTH. Numerous special components for aviation and military use also allow us to configure customised restraint systems with the highest level of performance, quickly and unbureaucratically. The newest activity is the development of inflatable belt systems as pelvic restraints, three-point safety belts and in particular the four-point and five-point belts for military purposes.
